Aesirgoddesses

The aesirgoddesses have lived in Asgard since it was created. The goddesses are beautiful, friendly and helpful. The vanirwomen and giantesses that lives with an aesir in Asgard also counts as aesirgoddesses. Some of the most important aesirgoddesses are Freya, Frigg and Sif. About half of the goddesses are married to an aesir and the other half have more independent roles. Every aesirgoddess have knowledge in different categories. Asgard Ansuz


Beyla Beyla is Frey's servant. She is married to Byggvir and they live together with Frey and Gerd on the farm Alfheim. Her major task there is to milk the cows. The name Beyla means 'bee'. Alfheim Byggvir
Bil Bil and her brother Hjuki have been sent to the moon with a bowl of mead. There they follow the moon on it's way. Bil later becomes Saga. Their parents are Ivaldi and Hildegun. Idun is her sister.
Bjart Bjart is one of the lovegoddess Freya's eight sisters. The god of storm and fishing, Njord is her father. The fertilitygod Frey is her brother. The name Bjart means 'the one who is shining'.
Blid Blid is one of the lovegoddess Freya's eight sisters. Njord, the god of storm and fishing, is her father. The fertilitygod Frey is her brother. The name Blid means 'the one who is mild'.
Brynhild Brynhild is the leader of the valkyries. She is daughter to king Budle and sister to Atle and Bekkhild. She has been punished by Odin, but Sigurd Fafnisbari saved her.
Earth The earthgoddess Earth is the mother of Thor. She got him together with the wise Odin. Earth is daughter to the nightdisir Night and her first husband of three, Nagelfar.
Eir Eir is the goddess of cure and healing. She is one of Freya's eight sisters and Njord's daughter. She probably lives in the hall Skimmer with the rest of the sisters. The name Eir means 'mercy'.
Freya Freya is the aesirs beautiful fertilitygoddess and Njord's daughter. She has eight sisters and one brother, Frey. Freya, who originates from the vanirs, is the goddess of affectionate love. Frid Frid is one of the lovegoddess Freya's eight sisters. The god of storms and fishing, Njord is her father. The fertilitygod Frey is her brother. The name Frid means 'the good-looking'.
Frigg Frigg, the goddess of marriage, is the clairvoyant mistress of Asgard. She is Odin's wife and they have six sons and one daughter. Frigg is Njord's sister and a member of the vanirs. Frigg means 'the loving'. Fensalir Odin
Fulla Fulla is Frigg's servant with the special task to carry her box and her footwear. She is described as an aesirgoddess with long hair and a golden snood. The name Fulla means 'the filler'.
Gefion She is the goddess of agriculture and the protector of the virgins. Gefion takes care of the un-married women. She once had four sons that she had turned into bulls. Gefion means 'the giver'.
Gersimi Gersimi is the daughter of the beautiful fertilitygoddess Freya and her ex-husband Od. The beautiful Hnoss is her sister. The name Gersimi means 'jewellery'.
Gna The aesirgoddess Gna is Frigg's messenger. With her horse Hoofflourisher (fallen from Hamskerpir and Gardrofa) she is travelling in the air and over the water through all worlds. Hoofflourisher
Gondul Gondul together with Hildr and Skogul, are the most noble valkyries in Asgard. She is often associated with warmagic. The name Gondul means 'magic wand-carrier'.
Gullveig Gullveig was a very magic-skilled vanir woman. When she went to the aesirs she got burned three times, which probably led to the Vanir War. The name Gullveig means 'power of gold'.
Gunn Gullveig is a valkyire. Their mission is to ride down to the battle fields of Midgard to collect the fallen warriors to Valhalla. The name Gunn means 'fight'.
Harn The aesirgoddess Harn is the goddess of flax-dressing. The name Harn means 'flax'.
Herfjotur The valkyrie Herfjotur often rides down to Midgard to pick the human warriors that are brave enought to go to Valhalla, where she also serves mead. The name Herfjotur means 'army fetter'.
Hildr Hildr together with Gondul and Skogul, are the most noble valkyries. Their task is to choose the men permitted to go to Valhalla. Hildr personifies the unforgiving war. The name means 'combat'.
Hlin The goddess of consolation, Hlin saves people from danger when Frigg tells her to. The name Hlin means 'the one who takes pity'.
Hlokk The valkyrie Hlokk often rides down to Midgard to pick the human warriors that are brave enought to go to Valhalla, where she also serves mead. The name Hlokk means 'din of battle'.
Hnoss Hnoss is the daughter of the fertilitygoddess Freya and Od. Gersimi is her sister. She is very pretty and everything expensive and beautiful is named after her. Hnoss means 'treasure'.
Idun The beautiful Idun is married to Bragi. She has goldapples that gives youthness in her basket. Every year she gives one apple to every aesir. Idun means 'the rejuvenating one'. Bragi
Mist The valkyrie Mist is one of Odin's two servants. Her major task is to serve the einheriars in Valhalla of the four kinds of mead that comes from the goat Heidrun. Mist means 'fog'. Heidrun
Modgunn   The aesirgoddess Modgunn is the guardian by the Gjallarbridge that goes over the sea Gjoll to the kingdom of death, Nifilhel. She asks everybody about their name and family. Gjallarbridge
Nanna The moongoddess Nanna is Balder's wife and Forseti's mother. When Balder have been shot by a misteltoearrow she dies of sorrow and they get buried together in a burning ship. Nanna is the daughter of Nep. Balder Breidablik
Nerthus The vanirwoman Nerthus is one of the older fertilitygods. She has a carriage pulled by cows. She is Njord's sister. The name Nerthus means 'the vegetative power that spring shall wake up'.
Niorun Niorun is the goddess of dreams. The dwarves call nighttime dream-Niorun.
Rist The valkyrie Rist is one of Odin's two servants. Her task is to serve the men in Valhalla the never-ceasing four kinds of mead that comes from the goat Heidrun. Rist means 'spearthrower'. Heidrun
Roskva Roskva is an human girl, but she lives in Bilskirnir with Thor and Sif. Tjalfi is her brother and Groa and Egil Skytten are her parents. The name Roskva means 'the quick'.
Saga Saga is Odin and Frigg's only daughter. At Ragnarok she was the one who saw the fireflames from the alves territory. Saga has been Bil. The name Saga means 'the one that sees'. Sokvaback
Sigyn Sigyn is Loki's women and they have a son, Narfi. When Loki gets punished she stays with him holding a bowl over his face to save him from the snake-poison. Loki
Sif Sif is Thor's wife and they have a son, Modi, and a daughter, Thrud. She is known for her long golden hair, forged by Brokk when Loki had cut it. Sif means 'the sister-in-law'. Bilskirnir Brokk Thor
Sjofn The aesirgoddess Sjofn gives love and sex to both men and women. She is the mistress of the human's passion and the only one who can allow dissallowed couples to be with eachother. The name Sjofn means 'affection'.
Skogul Skogul together with Hildr and Gondul, are the most noble of valkyries. Their task is to point out the warriors worthy enough to get to Valhalla. The name Skogul means 'the twilightmaid'.
Skuld The fate and valkyrie Skuld is the mistress of all valkyries. With the other fates she sits at the Urdawell spinning threads about the human's future. The fates never spoke to anyone but Odin. The name Skuld means 'future'. Naudiz Urdawell
Snotra Snotra has the greatest knowledge of all the aesirgoddesses and when she moves she does it really beautiful. The name Snotra means 'wise'.
Svava Svava is a valkyrie that once fell in love with Helge, the son of a king. Some tragic events happened, for example Helge got deadly injured and the couple died together.
Syn Syn guards the entrance to Odin's great stronghold Valhalla. The valkyries choose the bravest warriors and brings them to Valhalla where they fight and parties the rest of their lives. Valhalla
Thrud The aesirgoddess and valkyrie Thrud is Tor and Sif's very strong daughter. The dwarf Alvis demanded that he was going to marry her, but Thor tricked him. Thrud means 'strength'.
Urd Urd, the oldest fate sits at the Urdawell by Yggdrasil's root to the south, and spins life-threads with a silver distaff. Her threads involves the humans past. The fates never spoke to anyone but Odin. Urd means 'destiny'. Naudiz Urdawell
Var The aesirgoddess Var supervises oaths and promises and she punishes those who brakes the oaths. Newmarried couples say her name when they take eachothers hands.
Verdandi The fate Verdandi spins the humans life-threads with her hands. Her threads are about the present. She lives with the other fates at the Urdawell. The fates never spoke to anyone but Odin. Verdandi means 'necessity'. Naudiz Urdawell
