Thor's fishing

One day Thor and Tyr went to Jotunheim. They were going to visit Tyr's stepfather Hymir and ask if they could borrow his big kettle Seaboiler. The kettle was over one mile deep and they needed it at Aegir's big feasts. Tyr's mother, a pale and shining women welcomed them but told them to hide behind the other kettles until her husband came home. Later, when Hymir came home he immediately felt that something was wrong. His fireing eyes smashed all the kettles, except Seaboiler and he saw the aesirs. First he got angry, but then he invited them to eat dinner with him. Thor ate two whole bulls. The following morning the giant asked Thor to go fishing with him. He told Thor to find his own bait, so Thor went out to the farmhouse were he chopped the head of a big moonbull called Himinhrjod.

Then they sat themselves in a small boat and Thor started to row. After a while Hymir said there were far enough from land, but Thor kept on rowing. When he finally stopped Hymir had already got several whales. Thor threw out the bullheadbait and it didn't take long until he felt that he had a bite. When he started to drag it up he saw that this was the Midgard serpent Jormungand himself that was stuck on the hook. Thor hastily grabbed Mjollnir and was just about to throw it when the scared giant cut off the fishingline with his knife. Jormungand dissapeared down in the water. Thor got so angry that he hit Hymir who fell of the boat and had to swim home. Because of the weight of the serpent Thor's feets had made a hole in the boat so when he came back to the beach Thor had to lift up the boat to get all the water out of it. Then he carried it back to Hymir's place. The angry giant said that nobody was strong if he couldn's smash his glaskalk. Thor tried several times, but he didn't succeed before he did as Tyr's mother said. He threw the glaskalk in Hymir's hard forehead. The glaskalk broke and the aesirs started their walk back to Asgard. Thor carried Seaboiler over him and the handles hit his legs for every step he took. When they were almost home Tyr says that Hymir and some other giants comes running after them. Thors stops, steps out of the kettle and kills them all. Then they continue to Aegir to give him the keetle Seaboiler.
